School Bus Carrying Four Children Crashes into Vehicle, State Police Investigate

Port Washington, NY - February 13, 2017 - At 3:46 P.M. on February 13, 2017 State Police in Valley Stream investigated a crash involving a twenty passenger school bus owned by the First Student Company, Freeport, NY. The school bus, operated by Maria Delgado of Freeport, NY, was carrying 4 children from the Vincent Smith School of Port Washington, NY. It was traveling southbound on the Meadowbrook Parkway between exit M5 and M6. Delgado failed to observe stopped traffic in front of the school bus, and the bus subsequently struck a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe from behind. Two children on the bus were transported to the Nassau County Medical Center by ambulance for minor injuries. They were treated for their injuries and released. No occupants of the Hyundai were injured.
