East Garden City, NY - February 12, 2018 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for Criminal Possession of a Firearm that occurred on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:10 am in East Garden City.
 
According to detectives, 911 received a call for a disturbance with shots fired in the vicinity of 821 Stewart Avenue. Upon arrival, police observed a male subject who fit the description involved in the disturbance, running westbound towards Ring Road. The subject was stopped and after an investigation defendant Akeem Chambers, 16, was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest a black 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered in the defendant’s backpack.  
 
Defendant Chambers is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He will be arraigned on Monday, February 12, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
