The Nassau County Police Department Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Port Washington man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 1:15 a.m. in Farmingdale.
According to Police, Eighth precinct officers responded to the Farmingdale Long Island Railroad Station, located at Melville Road and South Front Street, for a vehicle on fire on the tracks. Upon arrival, officers observed a White Subaru on fire.
The operator of the vehicle was found in close proximity to the accident and after a thorough investigation, Jorge Ferrer Hidalgo, 29, of 10 Bar Beach Road, was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Defendant Hidalgo is charged with three (3) counts of Driving While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
