Baldwin Man Allegedly Slaps Around Wife, Then Injures Two Officers While Resisting Arrest

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 5:36 pm in Baldwin.
 
According to Detectives, officers responded to a Newton Avenue residence for a disturbance. Upon police arrival, officers were informed that the defendant, Harry H. Williams Jr., 64, was involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 64. The argument escalated and the defendant began pushing and slapping the victim. The victim, in fear for her safety, called 911 but the defendant left scene in his vehicle. 
 
During the investigation, the defendant returned back to the location in his vehicle and became increasing irate by yelling and screaming at officers. It was determined the defendant was intoxicated. As he was being placed under arrest, two officers sustained injuries as the defendant was violent and combating while resisting arrest. The injured officers were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of their injuries. 
 
Defendant Harry H. Williams Jr., is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Harassment 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, February 9, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
