Officials: Homeless Teenager Charged in Knifepoint Robbery of Freeport 7-Eleven

Freeport, NY - February 8, 2018 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a man for a Robbery that occurred at 10:41pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Freeport.
 
According to Detectives, defendant Daniel Soto, 17, while armed with a large steak knife, did enter the 7-Eleven located at 200 Merrick Road; he threatened and demanded cash from the employee working the cash register. The male victim, 48, complied and handed the defendant an undetermined amount of US currency. The defendant fled the scene on foot and no injuries were reported. 
 
A search conducted by Freeport Police, Nassau County Police including the Aviation Unit located the defendant in a wooded area near the southbound ramp of the Meadowbrook Parkway in Freeport; he was arrested without incident at 11:43pm.
 
Defendant Daniel Soto is charged with Robbery 1st Degree and False Personation. He will be arraigned on Thursday, February 08, 2018 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
