SCPD Officer Saves Choking Woman in Medford

Huntington. NY - February 6th, 2016 - Suffolk County police officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a woman was choking on food at her home in Medford last night.

Patrol Officer Bryan Mastrangelo responded to Eagle Avenue and found the 35-year-old woman, apparently unable to breathe and signaling that she was choking by placing her hands on her neck.

Officer Mastrangelo, who is a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), immediately applied abdominal thrusts to the woman, which dislodged the object from her throat.

The woman was able to breathe normally and refused any further medical assistance that was offered.
