Floral Park Man Arrested for Robbing New Hyde Park Gas Station

New Hyde Park, NY - February 8th, 2014 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Floral Park man for Robbery that occurred in New Hyde Park, on Friday, February 7th, 2014 at 8:00 AM.
 
According to detectives, the tall white subject entered into the BP gas station located at 200 Hillside Avenue, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash from the 52 year old male employee. The subject instructed the victim to place an undisclosed amount of US currency, and 4 packs of cigarettes on top of the counter. The subject then fled on foot eastbound on Hillside Avenue with the proceeds.
 
A Third Precinct Police Officer, responding to the scene, observed a male subject who matched the description on Hillside Avenue in the vicinity of North 5th Street. Upon further investigation, the subject was identified as Michael Tolan, 24, of 67 Barwick Street and was placed into police custody without incident. Proceeds were recovered. There were no injuries reported.
 
Michael Tolan was charged with Robbery 1st Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Saturday February 8th, 2014.
