ProHEALTH Care, the largest independent, physician-run health system in the nation will present a check for $100,000 to Bethany House, a nonprofit agency helping women and children on Long Island caught in the crisis of homelessness, on February 11, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Bethany House in Roosevelt, NY. ProHEALTH Care named Bethany House as its 2019 charitable partner for its PHamily Circle initiative, a community outreach program rooted in fundraising, awareness, and medicine. To show its commitment and support of the nonprofit, ProHEALTH Care pledged to raise $100,000, the largest contribution to Bethany House from a healthcare organization in its 40-year history. To present the check, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and will join ProHEALTH Care President & CEO Zeyad Baker, M.D., as he makes the momentous donation to Bethany House.

In 2019, ProHEALTH Care introduced PHamily Circle and its 2019 wellness topic, “The Year of the Woman.” Throughout 2019, ProHEALTH Care focused its efforts on programs that support, empower, and educate women. PHamily Circle selected Bethany House as its chartable partner for its commitment and dedication providing emergency shelter, clothing, and resources for women and children in crisis.

“Bethany House is an incredible organization and we are humbled by its dedication and continuous support of the women and children in need on Long Island,” said Dr. Baker. “The ProHEALTH Care staff believes whole-heartily in the nonprofit’s mission and worked diligently to raise the $100,000 and collect other necessities for the residents of Bethany House. It is inspiring to see what the team accomplished in its fundraising efforts.”

ProHEALTH conducted various initiatives and executed programs to raise money and awareness for Bethany House. To kickoff efforts, ProHEALTH Care’s “Women in Medicine” committee held a Women’s Health Expo, which provided medical screenings and workshops as well as raised $25,000 for Bethany House. During the months of June and July, ProHEALTH Care donated $1 for every visit at any ProHEALTH Urgent Care location. To supplement the monetary fundraising, the ProHEALTH Care team also collected over 3,000 items for Bethany House residents through its 1,000 Acts of Kindness Campaign, and sponsored Bethany’s annual Fashion Show Fundraiser.

In an unprecedented donation, Dr. Zeyad Baker added to ProHEALTH Care’s fundraising pledge and announced all residents and staff of Bethany House would receive free medical care at any ProHEALTH Urgent Care.

“Access to quality medical care is increasingly becoming a more prevalent problem for underserved communities, not to mention that unforeseen medical costs is one of the biggest factors of individual financial crisis,” said Dr. Baker. “In providing free medical care, we hoped to remove the worry for these struggling families of finding money for medicine and doctors’ visits, as they rebuild and regain their footing with the help from Bethany House.”

“ProHEALTH Care has gone above and beyond what we could have hoped for in their efforts on behalf of Bethany House,” said Aimee Koonmen, Executive Director of Bethany House. “We are incredibly grateful for their fundraising efforts and the support that ProHEALTH Care has provided in granting access to healthcare for both our community and employees.”
