Legislator Anker and the Sound Beach Civic to Host Narcan Training Classes

Sound Beach, NY - February 7, 2018 -  Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Department of Health Services and the Sound Beach Civic Association, will be hosting a Narcan training class on Monday, February 12th at 7:30 PM at the Sound Beach Fire Department.
 
The “Opioid Overdose Prevention Program and Narcan Training Class” meets the NYS Department of Health requirements. The class will train participants to recognize an opioid overdose, how to administer intranasal Narcan, and what steps to take until EMS arrives during an emergency situation.
 
“There is a heroin and opiate epidemic that is plaguing Suffolk County,” said Legislator Anker. “One of the measures that we can take as citizens is to be prepared in case of an emergency. Through the Narcan Training Class, participants will be given the tools and the knowledge they need to respond quickly to save a life.”

When: Monday, February 12th
Time: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Where: Sound Beach Fire Department
152 Sound Beach Boulevard, Sound Beach, NY
 
Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive a certificate and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes Narcan. Advanced registration for the class is required. To register, or to receive additional information, please call Legislator Anker’s office at 631-854-1600.
