NY State Police Identify Human Skeletal Remains Found Off of Southern State Parkway

NY State Police have identified human skeletal remains discovered near exit 15 south of the Southern State Parkway.

Long Island, NY - February 5, 2019 - On Monday, February 4th, 2019, at approximately 2:24 PM, State Police received a report of human skeletal remains on the Southern State Parkway, in the wooded area, eastbound near exit 15 south.  
 
The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation as well as the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s Office investigated the scene. At this time there are no signs foul play. 
 
The skeletal remains have been identified as Steven Roque, 65, of Franklin Square
 
The Nassau County Police Department had an open missing persons case for the deceased which led to a family member and confirmed his identity. His remains, which appear to have been there for approximately 6 months, were found by a passerby on foot and 911 was contacted. At this time it appears to be a natural death, pending an autopsy.
