Adelphi University Presents “Women On the Move: How Women Are Paving the Road to Success in Business”

Garden City, NY - February 5, 2018 - Adelphi University will host a panel highlighting professional women in the financial world. “Women On the Move: How Women Are Paving the Road to Success in Business” will be in the Nexus Building, Room 239, Wednesday, February 7, from 6:15 to 8 p.m.
 
Sponsored by the Adelphi Accounting Society and the International Honor Society of Beta Alpha Psi, the program will focus on women sharing their experiences and discussing the challenges they face in achieving prominent positions in their respective fields.
 
“I am looking forward to hearing about how each of these women began their careers, the challenges they have faced along the way and how they have overcome those challenges,” said Jennifer Blandenburgo, event organizer and president of the Accounting society, who noted that each panelist has achieved success in her career and is involved in the Adelphi’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business School of Business. “As a female interested in entering the field of public accounting, I find it both inspirational and motivational to gain insights from these women that may be beneficial to my own pursuit of success in my professional career.”
 
The panel will be moderated by Arianna Georgiadis, a tax senior at Mazars USA LLP, and will feature Ellen Labita, audit partner at Baker Tilly; Janet Bernier, tax partner at BDO; Kim Petry, president and CFO of Be Balanced; and Tina Catalina, partner at Marcum LLP. Labita, Catalina, and Petry  are Adelphi graduates.  Bernier is a member of the business school’s Accounting Advisory Board as are Labita and Bataline. Petry is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board and is currently teaching Introduction to Auditing as an Adelphi adjunct professor.
 
Doors will open at 6 p.m. to provide time for attendees and guests to get comfortable and allow for some preliminary discussions before the panel discussion commences. Learn more about the event at adelphi.edu.
