Digging Out Again: Totals for Latest Round of Snow & Ice

As if the snowstorm that pummeled Long Islanders Sunday and throughout the day on Monday, delivering significant snowfall totals, hazardous driving conditions and leaving thousands without power, was not enough, residents awoke Wednesday to yet another storm, leaving the Island covered in heavy, wet snow and treacherous, icy conditions.

Although no record snowfalls were recorded for this latest storm, following are unofficial snowfall and ice totals taken during the past 12 hours from around the Island, reported by the National Weather Service:

NASSAU COUNTY (Snowfall Totals)

  • Albertson – 3.0 inches
  • Bayville – 5.3 inches
  • Locust Valley – 5.0 inches
  • New Hyde Park – 2.8 inches
  • North Massapequa – 1.5 inches
  • North Merrick – 3.0 inches
  • Uniondale – 2.5 inches
  • Woodbury – 4.5 inches

NASSAU COUNTY (Total Ice)

  • Bayville - 0.15 inches
  • New Hyde Park - 0.10 inches
  • Rockville Centre - 0.12 inches
  • Uniondale - 0.20 inches

SUFFOLK COUNTY (Snowfall Totals)

  • Baiting Hollow – 2.1 inches
  • Centereach – 2.5 inches
  • Eastport – 1.5 inches
  • Huntington – 3.3 inches
  • Islip Airport – 1.8 inches
  • Mattituck – 2.0 inches
  • North Babylon – 2.5 inches
  • North Patchogue – 2.0 inches
  • Orient – 4.5 inches
  • Smithtown – 3.0 inches
  • Stony Brook – 3.0 inches
  • Sound Beach – 2.6 inches
  • Upton – 2.3 inches
  • Wading River – 2.3 inches
  • West Babylon – 2.5 inches

SUFFOLK COUNTY (Total Ice)

  • Centereach – 0.25 inches
  • North Babylon – 0.15 inches
  • Shirley Airport – 0.13 inches
  • Smithtown – 0.10 inches
  • Upton – 0.10 inches
