Uniondale Man Arrested for Burglary

A man was caught trying to rob a store in Uniondale Monday evening.

Uniondale, NY - February 4 - 2014  - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for Burglary that occurred on Monday, February 03, 2014 at 5:59 a.m. in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, First Precinct Officers responded to an alarm at Boost Mobile located at 418 Uniondale Avenue and upon their arrival they observed the defendant Raymond W. Castro, 29 of 321 Fenimore Avenue carrying numerous boxes of merchandise from the store. Upon seeing the officers the defendant attempted to flee, but was quickly caught and placed under arrest. The investigation determined that Castro used a pick axe found at the scene to break the front glass door of the store to gain access. All the merchandise was recovered.
 
Castro is charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
