NCPD: Unlicensed Hempstead Woman in Custody After Fleeing Traffic Stop, Assaulting Officers During Arrest

The First Squad reports on the arrest of a Hempstead female for the Assault of an Officer that occurred on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11:40 PM in Hempstead.
 
According to Detectives, Officers observed a black Mercedes SUV fail to signal while making a turn southbound on East Meadow Avenue. During the investigation it was revealed that the registration came back to a different vehicle and Officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. The operator of the vehicle refused to stop and fled from police. Detectives responded to the residence of the defendant Oriana Bush, 23, of 88 Jean Avenue and attempted to place her under arrest. Detectives sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. 
 
Defendant Oriana Bush is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree and multiple Traffic Law Infractions. She will be arraigned on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
