East End Arts Announces Open Call for Artists: Abstract & Almost Abstract
Riverhead, NY - February 2nd, 2015 – The East End Arts Gallery is pleased to announce an open call for artist participation in the upcoming juried, all media art show, Abstract & Almost Abstract, at the East End Arts Gallery, opening with a reception on Friday, March 13 and running through April 17, 2015. The call is open to all artists to submit work with abstract elements. The guest juror for this show is Brian Washburn, artist and Director of the Washburn Gallery on W 57th Street in New York, NY. The East End Arts Gallery is located at 133 East Main Street in Riverhead, NY.
Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: “Purely abstract or just a little bit figurative but far from representational is what will be chosen for this exhibit. In either case, let the abstract elements in your painting, photo or sculpture provide the dominant structure.” Original works in all media may be submitted, including: painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, video, and sculpture; up to three entries can be submitted per artist.
All submissions will be reviewed by the guest juror, who will choose select works to be included in the exhibit – the artwork that the juror feels best exemplifies the theme. Visual art entries will be accepted on Thursday, March 5 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; Friday, March 6 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; and Saturday, March 7 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the East End Arts Gallery.

The “Best in Show” winner of this show will be one of several artists who will participate in the East End Arts Gallery’s Winners’ Show in the Fall of 2016. First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.
An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, March 13 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, when guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists. This free event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
