Commack, NY - January 30, 2015 - Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta recognized Thomas Kowalski of Boy Scout Troop 125 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at his recent Court of Honor at the Commack United Methodist Church. For his Eagle Scout project, Thomas renovated the Turkey Vulture cage at the Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown so it became a new house for the birds including the addition of wire mesh around the cage to insure privacy.

“This is a very proud moment for Thomas, his parents and family, as well as his troop leaders and fellow scouts. I extend my congratulations to him for being an outstanding member of the community and hope that he will remain active in his community. This award is something he will have for the rest of his life and he obtained it while still a teenager. His accomplishment has set a high standard for commitment and dedication, which I hope will inspire the youth of our great County of Suffolk,” said Legislator Robert Trotta.
