January 20, 2015 - Huntington, NY - The Huntington Arts Council is proud to announce the High Arts Showcase XI. The Showcase will be on display from February 13 through March 2, 2015 in the Main Street Gallery located at 213 Main Street in Huntington. The event opening is Friday February 13th from 6pm-8pm at the Gallery. All are welcome.
 
The High Arts Showcase is in its eleventh year. The event features the work of 11th and 12th grade high school students who attend the six local schools participating in the Huntington Arts Council's JOURNEY program. The participating high schools are: Commack, Harborfields, Huntington, Northport/East Northport, Plainview/Old Bethpage & South Huntington. 
 
"Awards of Excellence" will be distributed at the opening reception on February 13th and those students who receive the awards will be announced at a later date.
 
The Huntington Arts Council established the JOURNEY Program in 1985 as a means of integrating cultural arts into classroom curriculum.  JOURNEY is a multi-cultural arts-in-education program developed by the Huntington Arts Council in partnership with school districts.  The goal of JOURNEY is to foster the appreciation of cultural diversity through the arts.
