Copiague Woman Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Plow

Copiague, NY - January 30th, 2015 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a woman in Copiague last evening.

Blanche Pope, was walking across New Highway, between 41st Street and 42nd Street, when she was struck by a 1989 GMC pickup truck that was traveling northbound on New Highway at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Pope, 53, of Copiague, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police helicopter.

The driver of the truck, Alfonso Trotta, 58, of Farmingdale, was not injured. The GMC had a plow attachment that was not in use at the time of the incident.

The truck was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
