Glen Cove Father Arrested for Driving Drunk with 2 Year Old Daughter in Car

Jericho, NY - January 29th, 2015 - Second Precinct officers report the arrest of a Glen Cove man for Driving While Intoxicated on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 5:50 pm in Jericho.

According to officers, while driving southbound on Broadway near the intersection of Manhattan Drive, Juan Martinez Landaverde, 34, of Dougherty Street, became involved in an auto accident with another vehicle that was stopped for a red light.

Upon police arrival and subsequent investigation at the scene, it was determined that Martinez Landaverde operated his vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Also in his car at the time of the collision was his 2 year old daughter, who was in a child car seat, but was unrestrained.

The defendant was placed under arrest and the 2 year old was released to the custody of her mother at the Second Precinct.

The only injured party was the male driver of the vehicle that was stopped at the light. He suffered neck pain, but refused medical attention.

Martinez Landaverde is charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle in excess of .08 or More Alcohol in Blood, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (with child passenger less than 16 – Leandra’s Law), Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unrestrained Back Seat Passenger Under Age 4.

He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 01/29/2105.
