Update - January 26, 2016 - The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of Joel Arquimides Ayala Deras, 35, of Westbury for the above crime. He is charged with Murder 2nd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Uniondale, NY - January 26, 2016 - The Homicide Squad is investigating a Homicide that occurred in Uniondale on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 9:45 pm.
According to detectives, First Precinct Police Officer’s responded to a 911 call for shots fired followed by a ShotSpotter call in the vicinity of Macon Place and Irving Place. Upon police arrival they observed a male victim identified as German Ismael Saravia Melendez, 37, of Uniondale lying on his left side shot multiple times. The victim was pronounced deceased at 10:06 pm by a Nassau County Ambulance Medical Technician. The investigation is ongoing.
