Mastic Beach, NY -  January 27, 2014 - As part of the Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School character education virtue of the month program, members of the William Floyd High School NJROTC visited second- and third-grade students during their monthly town hall meeting to discuss the virtues for January – self-discipline and perseverance.

“Each month we recognize a virtue of the month and design an activity around it,” said Monica Corona, Principal, Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School. “We decided to invite the NJROTC here to speak to our students and be a living example of virtues in action.”

NJROTC members Rashelle Batres, Endy Chicas, Tyler Baudier, Alejandro Freiere, Matt Hilburn (a former Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School student) and Caitlin Riboni, spoke about some of their experiences with NJROTC and how it takes self-discipline to maintain good grades while participating in extra-curricular activities.

The presentation ended with a question and answer session with the students.  “It was a great opportunity for our students to learn about the NJROTC program that is available to them in high school and to see the importance of self-discipline and perseverance,” said Mrs. Corona.
