LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Joy is a 1 year old Dobie mix, 45 pounds, found as a stray at an Amityville grocery store. She was brought to the Town of Babylon Shelter but has made her way to Last Hope. Joy is a tiny bit timid at first but seems drawn to teenagers right away. Joy knows SIT, PAW and DOWN and knows them a lot better when you have a tasty treat to offer her. Joy has great family dog potential and would love to meet you today. For more information about adopting Joy, please contact Last Hope.

Tucker is a sweet and nothing short of adorable 35 pound, 5 year old Shepard mix. He was surrendered by his owner to a Kentucky shelter because his family was moving without him. Tucker is very intelligent as he already knows SIT & PAW. He's a gentle boy who likes other dogs too. If your looking to adopt a sweet little man, Tucker is your guy. Please contact Last Hope for more information.
