Hempstead, NY - January 26, 2017 - Thirteen William Floyd High School Business Academy students placed in the top five in their respective competitions at the Future Business Leaders of America District 1S spring meeting held at Hofstra University. Six of these students have qualified to compete in the state competition in upstate Rochester, NY, this upcoming April.

The six students qualifying for the state competition are Joe Berkowitz, 2^nd, Accounting; Jon Leuzze, 2^nd/Accounting I and 2^nd/Business Law; Jason Passaro, 2^nd/Sports and Entertainment Marketing; Lexi Willets, 2^nd/Client Services; Tahina Rodriguez, 3^rd/Impromptu Speaking; and Kaitlyn Hedges, 3^rd/Business Calculations and 4^th/Economics.

Also taking home awards were Gabby Marroquin, 4^th/Business Communications; Jhoana Sinchi, 4^th/Public Speaking I; Jeramie Stoessel, 4^th/Accounting II; Barbara Petitca, 5^th/Job Interview; Spiridoula Kaltsas, 5^th/Public Speaking II; Alex Behrhof, 5^th/Technology Concepts; and Jasmine Hobson, 5^th/Word Processing.
