Ridge Woman Arrested for Robbing Bank

Ridge, NY - January 25th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a woman who robbed an Astoria Federal Savings bank in Ridge this morning.
 
Louwanda Jackson entered the bank, located at 1880 Middle Country Road, at 11:14 a.m., demanded cash and threatened violence. The teller complied with the demand and gave Jackson cash from the drawer. Jackson then fled the bank on foot.
 
Seventh Precinct Police Officer Kevin Gleason responded to the robbery and apprehended the suspect in the parking lot. Proceeds from the robbery were recovered.
 
Pattern Crime Unit detectives charged Jackson, 46, of Williamsburg Court, Ridge, with Robbery 3rd Degree. She is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on January 26.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
