West Islip, NY - January 25, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini will announce the continuance of a collaborative anti-drug presentation in the ongoing effort to combat the heroin and opiate epidemic at a press conference at the West Islip Library on Wednesday.

The police department has partnered with the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner and the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene to present The Ugly Truth, a presentation given to school districts and community members that includes information on opiates, signs of an overdose, and Narcan, a medication that can reverse the effects. In addition, participates are offered home drug testing kits and resource pamphlets. The department has presented Ugly Truth presentations more than 40 times.
