Centerport, NY - January 24, 2017 - Newly appointed Chairwoman of the Legislature’s Parks and Recreation committee, Legislator Kara Hahn this week toured the County’s historic Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium in Centerport.  This 43 acre waterfront estate nicknamed “Eagle's Nest” was once home to William K. Vanderbilt II who, in his will, donated the property to Suffolk County for use as a museum for his extensive marine, natural history, and ethnographic collections. In 1970 the Vanderbilt Museum opened its 60-foot domed planetarium that has since amazed visitors with stunning light and laser shows.
