Brooklyn Man Arrested in Connection to 2010 West Babylon Murder

Update - January 23rd, 2015 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man in connection with the death of Michael Anderson of West Babylon in 2010. Homicide Squad detectives arrested Marcus Lewis, 32, of Flushing Ave., Brooklyn, and charged him with Murder 2nd Degree. Lewis will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 23.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Michael Anderson, who was shot in the head in front of Stone Hedge Pub in West Babylon on September 25, was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.

West Babylon, NY - September 25th, 2010 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a West Babylon man who was shot in the head early this morning.

Michael Anderson, 30, and a friend were walking back to the Stone Hedge Pub, located at 713 Sunrise Highway, West Babylon, after purchasing cigars at a nearby gas station at approximately 2:20 a.m. According to Anderson’s friend, someone in a vehicle that was parked on the Sunrise Highway Service Road in front of the pub called Anderson by his nickname. The victim walked behind the vehicle as his friend entered the pub.  The friend heard a gunshot and went out to find Anderson lying on the service road with a gunshot wound to his head.

Anderson, of 314 Fulton St., was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was listed in critical condition.
