Nassau Police Identify Victim of Fatal Vehicular Accident in Hempstead
The Homicide Squad has identified the victim of a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 8:02 am in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, Michael DeMedina, 64, of Hempstead was crossing Peninsula Boulevard northbound when he was struck by a 2011 Toyota Tundra being operated by a 49-year-old male traveling southbound making a left onto South Franklin Street.
DeMedina was pronounced on scene. The driver remained on scene and there were no other injuries reported. The investigation is ongoing.
