SCPD: West Islip Man Arrested for Murder after Fatally Stabbing Wife

Copiague, NY - January 22, 2019 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man after he fatally stabbed his wife in Copiague on Monday, January 21.
 
Wayne Alcus stabbed Patricia Alcus at her home, located on Lake Drive, at approximately 7 p.m. Ryan Alcus, their 18-year-old son, who was present in the home at the time of the stabbing, sustained injuries to his hand when he took the knife away from his father.  
 
Patricia Alcus, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from Copiague Fire Department Rescue. Ryan Alcus was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Wayne Alcus was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
 
Wayne Alcus, 49, of West Islip, was charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 22. 
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
