NY State Police: West Babylon Man Arrested in Violation of Leandra's Law

West Babylon, NY - January 22, 2017 - On the afternoon of January 21, 2018 the New York State Police received a report that a vehicle was driving erratically on the Southern State Parkway and that it had struck a guiderail. A Trooper responded and intercepted the vehicle on the parkway in the vicinity of Route 110. 
 
The vehicle was operated by Karl Lottman, age 39, of West Babylon, NY, and was also occupied an eleven year old child. The investigation revealed that Lottman was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Lottman submitted to a chemical test which showed Lottman to have a blood alcohol content of .27 %.  
 
He was charged with felony Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and related charges and was held for arraignment at Nassau County District Court on January 22, 2018. The child was turned over to the custody of his mother.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
