Stony Brook, NY - January 21, 2016 - Winter Storm Jonas is expected to bring a dangerous winter storm to the NY area this weekend.

As hundreds of students from across the country prepare to move into their resident halls this weekend, Stony Brook University is taking an extra steps to keep students safe. The Emergency Operating Center (EOC) at Stony Brook will be activated, starting at midnight tomorrow (Friday into Saturday) and throughout the storm.

The EOC provides a three dimensional model that allows for management of Stony Brook systems across campus, in real-time. These include network switches, cameras, power outages and more! This all-inclusive monitoring model allows Stony Brook to have actionable intelligence on any hazards, helping the Emergency Management team prepare for and respond to major incidents on campus.
