Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a Lindenhurst man was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated, and other charges for a high-speed, drunken crash in September 2025 that killed a man driving home from work.

Bryan Mizhirumbay, 24, was arraigned today before Judge Caryn Fink on grand jury indictment charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (a B felony); Manslaughter in the Second Degree (a C felony); Vehicular Manslaughter in the First Degree (a C felony); Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree (a D felony); Assault in the Second Degree (a D violent felony); Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Per Se (an unclassified misdemeanor); Driving While Intoxicated, Per Se (an unclassified misdemeanor); Driving While Intoxicated (an unclassified misdemeanor); and Reckless Driving (an unclassified misdemeanor).

The defendant pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $100,000 cash, $350,000 bond, and $1.5 million partially secured bond. Electronic monitoring, surrender of any and all passports, and a license suspension were also ordered. He is due back in court on February 26, 2026. If convicted, the defendant faces up to 8-1/3 to 25 years in prison.

“This defendant, allegedly more than two times the legal limit for alcohol, was screaming down Atlantic Avenue in Freeport on a tragic collision course with Craig White, who was returning home from his shift at AHRC Nassau,” said DA Donnelly. “Mizhirumbay violently slammed into Craig’s vehicle at 90 miles per hour, causing catastrophic damage, and ending his life. Craig was a dedicated member of the AHRC staff, supporting the needs of individuals with disabilities serviced by the organization with kindness and compassion. His loss at the hands of an alleged drunk driver devasted the community. Craig’s many friends, colleagues, and loved ones remain in our thoughts as we prosecute this case.”

DA Donnelly said that, according to the indictment, on September 3, 2025, at approximately 11:07 p.m., 55-year-old Craig White was driving home from work at AHRC Nassau in Freeport northbound on S. Long Beach Avenue through the intersection with Atlantic Avenue.

The defendant was driving eastbound on Atlantic Avenue. As Mizhirumbay approached the intersection with S. Long Beach Avenue, he was allegedly travelling at an excessive rate of speed, as high as 106 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.

Mizhirumbay allegedly failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and slammed into the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle.

The force of the impact drove both vehicles northeast across the intersection and westbound lanes of Atlantic Avenue.

The victim’s vehicle crashed through a fence on the property of Atlantic Nursery and the defendant’s vehicle came to rest on the westbound shoulder, where it became engulfed in flames.

White was discovered unconscious and trapped in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which had been pushed into the passenger compartment due to the impact of the crash.

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The defendant was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.

Blood drawn from the defendant at the hospital revealed that his blood alcohol concentration was .18% approximately one hour after the crash.

A review of the defendant’s vehicle event data recorder uncovered that the defendant was allegedly driving approximately 106 miles per hour three seconds before the crash.

The defendant allegedly collided with the victim’s vehicle at approximately 90 miles per hour with intermittent braking before impact.

Mizhirumbay surrendered on January 20, 2026, to the Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Bureau Chief Katie Zizza and Assistant District Attorney Brittany Battista of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau under the supervision of Bureau Chief Michael Bushwack and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Litigation Division Kevin Higgins. The defendant is represented by Steven Gaitman, Esq.

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
