Written by Long Island News & PR  |  21. January 2019

West Hempstead, NY - January 21, 2019 - Third Squad detectives announced that a Hempstead woman has been arrested for making a false statement to authorities.

According to detectives, Jeymi Guerra Cordova, 23, claimed that she was walking with her 1 year-old male child in a stroller on Fulton Ave in West Hempstead on Tuesday, January 15, at 7:18 p.m. Cordova alleged that an unknown black male jumped in front of the stroller and grabbed the child. The complainant said that she struggled with the subject at which time he threw the child victim to the pavement, causing scrapes to his face and a large contusion on his forehead. Cordova then said that the subject fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The child was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Third Squad detectives, after re-interviewing Jeymi Guerra Cordova, the child’s mother, admitted that she fabricated the above incident to cover up the fact that the child was unrestrained in his stroller and fell out sustaining the described injuries.

Cordova is charged with Making a Punishable False Written Statement and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 1/19/2019.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
