Written by Long Island News & PR  |  23. January 2017

Smithtown, NY - January 20, 2017 - Through the generosity of the constituents in Legislator Trotta’s district and the students and teachers at the Fort Salonga Elementary School, several hundred winter coats and accessories were collected for RSVP to distribute to needy men, women and children. Volunteers sorted the coats and distributed them to the
Welcome Inn, Lighthouse Mission, Infant Jesus Outreach Center, Pax Christi and the Gerald J. Ryan Center for Hope.

“With the winter temperatures so dangerously cold, I’m very grateful to Legislator Trotta and all the Fort Salonga teachers and students, as well as the volunteers at RSVP for making this a successful coat drive,” said Pegi Orsino, Executive Director of RSVP in Smithtown.

“I applaud the community for coming together to donate so many great coats for people of all ages during this drive for those who are less fortunate and in need of warm coats. I am especially proud of the kindergarten classes at the Fort Salonga Elementary School who spearheaded this drive, which eventually included the whole school,” said Legislator Rob Trotta.

Legislator Robert Trotta represents the 13th Legislative District, which includes Smithtown, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, San Remo, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor, and St. James, as well as most of East Northport and parts of Northport and Commack.

Legislator Trotta serves on the Legislature’s Economic Development, Environment, Planning & Agriculture, Health, Public Works, Transportation & Energy, and Ways & Means Committees.
