Murray Pleased With Daily Fantasy Sports Decision

Medford, NY - January 11, 2016 - Following the announcement that daily fantasy sports companies DraftKings, Inc. and FanDuel Inc. have received a permanent injunction from an appeals court to continue their operations in New York, Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) offered his opinion on the ruling.

“While I am very happy with the court decision, I believe that we need to continue to move forward legislatively to find a more permanent solution,” said Murray. “I still contend that daily fantasy sports are games that rely much more heavily on skill than chance, and I’m pleased that New Yorkers will be able to continue to play and enjoy the games they love.”

The Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court granted the ruling, which allows the two corporations to continue business operations in New York while they settle their pending trial with New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office. The next hearing is expected in May.
