West Babylon, NY - Janaury 19, 2016 - Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey (R-Lindenhurst) recently visited his friends at the West Babylon Main Street Organization (WBMO) during their January meeting.  The meeting was held at the West Babylon Public Library in a room packed with individuals from across the community, all of whom were ready for a new year of active civic participation.

During the meeting, everyone was brought up to date on the WBMO’s upcoming events, most notably its “Backpacks for Hunger” food drive.  The drive’s mission is to provide West Babylon families in need with adequate nutrition during some of the school year’s vacation periods.  “Backpacks for Hunger” is quite labor-intensive, as the donated food must be sorted with balanced nutrition in mind and packed within a relatively short amount of time.  Needless to say, a call for volunteers was an important component of the announcement.

When it came time for McCaffrey’s turn to address the meeting, he reiterated the importance of the “Backpacks for Hunger” program and extended thanks for the accomplishments and ongoing dedication of the WBMO.  McCaffrey then provided an update on matters of local interest that are being addressed by the Suffolk County Legislature, and encouraged everyone to remain in contact with his office to convey their thoughts and concerns.

“I am looking forward to continue working with the West Babylon Main Street Organization in 2016,” said McCaffrey.  “Over the past couple of years, by combining the collective resources of the community, we have been able to do some amazing things in West Babylon.  We have a lot of challenges to address, but together we can make the greater community safer, heathier, and happier.”
