Man Killed in North Bay Shore Shooting

Update - January 17, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives have identified Marcelo Argueta Chicas, 44, of Bay Shore, as the man found dead on Heckscher Avenue early this morning. The investigation is continuing.

North Bay Shore, NY - January 17, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man who was killed in a North Bay Shore shooting early this morning.

Third Precinct patrol officers responded to the area of Heckscher Avenue, just south of Prospect Place, after a ShotSpotter activation indicated that several shots had been fired at that location at 12:06 a.m. When the officers arrived, they discovered a 44-year-old male who had been shot one time by an unknown suspect. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
