Let the LIRR Take You to Super Bowl Boulevard Engineered by GMC

Long Island, NY - January 18th, 2014 - In the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, football fans can experience Super Bowl Boulevard Engineered by GMC, which will feature many fan interactive experiences that will excite any football fan, including a 60 feet high toboggan run that will be fun for the whole family. Super Bowl Boulevard runs for 13 blocks along Broadway in Midtown Manhattan, and it starts just a block away from the Long Island Rail Road’s hub at Penn Station. 
 
“Even if you aren’t lucky enough to have a Super Bowl ticket, Long Islanders can still be part of the excitement by visiting Super Bowl Boulevard in the days leading up to the Big Game,” said LIRR President Helena E. Williams. “It should be a fun family experience for football fans of all ages. And the LIRR will leave you just steps away from all the action.”
 
The LIRR has added special signage and extra personnel at Penn Station who will help direct fans to Super Bowl Boulevard. And the Railroad will augment off-peak service to and from Manhattan by adding extra late afternoon and evening trains on four branches. 
 
Extra Service: Wednesday, Jan. 29, to Friday, Jan. 31
 
Babylon Branch
In addition to regularly scheduled trains, four extra Penn Station-bound trains will depart Babylon between 3:50 p.m. and 5:29 p.m.
  • 3:50 p.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Lynbrook, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 5:02 p.m.
  • 4:50 p.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Rockville Centre, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 5:59 p.m.
  • 5:16 p.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Rockville Centre, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 6:25 p.m.
  • 5:29 p.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Lynbrook, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 6:41 p.m.
Port Jefferson Branch
In addition to regularly scheduled trains, three extra Penn Station-bound trains will depart Huntington between 4:01 p.m. and 4:52 p.m. and will make all local stops.
  • 4:01 p.m. train from Huntington, making all local stops through New Hyde Park, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 5:08 p.m.
  • 4:26 p.m. train from Huntington, making all local stops through Westbury, then Mineola, New Hyde Park and Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 5:29 p.m.
  • 4:52 p.m. train from Huntington, making all local stops through New Hyde Park, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 5:56 p.m.

To help fans get back home after experiencing Super Bowl Boulevard, an extra Huntington-bound train will depart Penn Station at 10:45 p.m. and will make all local stops.

Port Washington Branch
In addition to regularly scheduled trains, three extra Penn Station-bound trains will depart Great Neck between 4:25 p.m. and 6:04 p.m.
  • 4:25 p.m. train from Great Neck, making all local stops through Woodside, arriving Penn Station at 5:00 p.m.
  • 5:15 p.m. train from Great Neck, making all local stops through Woodside, arriving Penn Station at 5:50 p.m.
  • 6:04 p.m. train from Great Neck, making all local stops through Woodside, arriving Penn Station at 6:40 p.m.
Ronkonkoma Branch
In addition to regularly scheduled trains, an extra Penn Station-bound train will depart from Ronkonkoma at 3:59 p.m. making all local stops through Hicksville, then Mineola, Jamaica and arriving Penn Station at 5:25 p.m.
 
To help fans get back home after experiencing Super Bowl Boulevard, three extra Ronkonkoma-bound trains will depart Penn Station between 8:51 p.m. and 11:32 p.m.
  • 8:51 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all local stops to Ronkonkoma, arriving at 10:08 p.m.
  • 9:32 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all local stops to Ronkonkoma, arriving at 11:03 p.m.
  • 11:32 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, then all local stops to Ronkonkoma, arriving at 12:58 a.m.
Extra Babylon Branch Service: Saturday, Feb. 1 & Sunday, Feb. 2
The LIRR will run six extra Babylon Branch trains as noted in the brochure on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Sunday, Feb. 2.
 
In addition to regularly scheduled trains, three extra Penn Station-bound trains will depart Babylon between 9:16 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and will make all local stops.
  • 9:16 a.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Rockville Centre, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 10:28 a.m.
  • 10:15 a.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Lynbrook, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 11:31 a.m.
  • 11:15 a.m. train from Babylon, making all local stops through Lynbrook, then Jamaica, arriving Penn Station at 12:31 p.m.
To help fans get back home after experiencing Super Bowl Boulevard, three extra Babylon-bound trains will depart Penn Station between 4:29 p.m. and 6:39 p.m.
  • 4:29 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all local stops to Babylon, arriving at 5:43 p.m.
  • 5:39 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all local stops to Babylon, arriving at 6:54 p.m.
  • 6:39 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all local stops to Babylon, arriving at 7:54 p.m.
Travel to the First “Mass Transit Super Bowl” -- Sunday, February 2
Fans holding tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII will be able to take NJ Transit and select Amtrak trains from Penn Station to Secaucus, for a quick shuttle train to MetLife Stadium. The LIRR has added special signage and extra personnel who will help direct fans to connecting trains. (Note: Fans will be required show their game ticket at Secaucus before being allowed to connect to the MetLife Stadium shuttle train.)
 
Getting to MetLife Stadium from any LIRR station is just a one-ticket trip, even though you’ll change trains at Penn Station and Secaucus. If buying a ticket at a ticket vending machine, select “M,” then “Meadowlands” as your destination. You’ll receive one ticket that is valid on all the trains you’ll ride to get to the stadium operated by the LIRR or NJ Transit.
 
After the Super Bowl is over, the LIRR will add two extra trains from Penn Station. A Babylon Branch train will depart at 1:13 a.m. stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all local stops to Babylon, arriving at 2:27 a.m. A Port Jefferson Branch train will depart at 2:44 a.m., stopping at Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then all local stops to Huntington, arriving at 3:52 a.m.
