Brooklyn Man In Possession of Counterfeit Bills Arrested After Assaulting NCPD Officers

East Garden City, NY - January 17, 2017 - Nassau County Police report the arrest of a Brooklyn man at 9:30 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in East Garden City.
According to Officers, two Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team officers were conducting a vehicle and traffic law investigation within a red Infiniti in the parking lot of 821 Stewart Ave. As the officers approached, the sole occupant opened the drivers side door striking one of the officers. Triston Campbell, 27, of Brooklyn then fled on foot and was caught a short distance away. Defendant Campbell punched and kicked both officers but was subsequently placed into custody. He was found to be in possession of fourteen $50 and six $20 dollar counterfeit bills. The two police officers were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for cuts and bruises and released.
Defendant Triston Campbell is charged with 2 counts of Assault 2nd degree, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of Marihuana and several vehicle and traffic law violations.
Triston Campbell will be arraigned on January 17, 2018 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
