According to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), a minor geomagnetic storm could be visible to residents of New York Friday evening, between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Northern Lights, otherwise known as Auroras, display dynamic patterns of radiant light that appear as curtains, rays, spirals or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky.
Experts say that to get a best view of the atmospheric effects, one should find a dark spot away from urban lights with a clear, north-facing horizon.
Tonight's phenomena is considered minor, but nonetheless exciting, and those with an interest celestial happenings should get outdoors to observe this happening.
