Riverhead, NY - January 13th, 2014 - On Friday, February 7, 2014, American blues guitarist Johnny Winter will perform live at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead for one night only at 8 p.m. Winter was voted one of the “Top 100 Guitarists of all time” by Rolling Stone Magazine and has produced three Grammy Award® winning albums by Muddy Waters consecutively in 1977, 1978 and 1979. Guitar World graced their first issue with Winter on the cover in 1980 and he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1988. Gibson Guitars® released their signature Johnny Winter Firebird guitar adorned with his treasured and cherished trademark that he’s been known for throughout the years which was presented by Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash at a ceremony held in Nashville. Winter had headlined prestigious events such as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Chicago Blues Festival and Swedish Rock Fest.

Winter hails from Beaumont, Texas where he grew up listening to Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll. His innovating style for bridging classic blues with a powerful combination of authentic Texas funk gave way to his own high energy interpretation for the legions of fans newly discovering the blues via the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Blazing a trail all his own, Winter has made his mark in the music industry as one of the most respected singers and influential guitar players of all time. Shifting between primal country blues in the vein of Robert Johnson to scorching electric slide guitar is what has him still selling out shows going into his fifth decade of performing for loyal fans around the globe.

In 1968 bidding wars ignited among record labels for his phenomenal talent and in 1969 he signed with Columbia Records. Since his self-titled debut album, Johnny has recorded almost 40 albums of classic rock and blues and this year Sony Music Entertainment® will release a deluxe 4-CD box set of 56 tracks spanning his career from 1968 through 2011. The release of True To The Blues: The Johnny Winter Story is slated for February 25, 2014.

Tickets go on sale January 10, 2014 for $45 and can be purchased on the Suffolk Theater's Website, or by using the Walletini app on your iPhone or Android phone. There will be a meet and greet on the tour bus and ticket holders will receive details in advance.
