Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) is pleased to announce that a major New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) resurfacing project for Sunrise Highway in Baldwin and Freeport is now in the design phase of its development.
Upon its completion, the work, spanning a portion of Sunrise Highway from Harrison Avenue in Baldwin to the Wantagh State Parkway, will yield a completely resurfaced roadway and the installation and improvement of sidewalk curb ramps in accordance with current Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements. Work is tentatively expected to begin this summer.

“For South Shore communities, Sunrise Highway is truly one of the backbones of our local transportation infrastructure, and it is essential for it be safe and efficient for both motorists and pedestrians alike,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “These improvements will stimulate the local economy, make our daily commutes easier, and improve our quality of life, and I thank New York State for their continued focus on critical local infrastructure.”
