Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for slashing a man at a Central Islip bar and restaurant early this morning.

Central Islip, NY - January 11th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for slashing a man at a Central Islip bar and restaurant early this morning.
 
During an altercation between two groups of men, at Mi Encanto, located at 65 Carleton Ave., Wilson Martinez, slashed Jose Rivera with a box cutter at approximately 12:30 a.m. Rivera, 29, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, suffered injuries on his torso from his shoulder to his waist. He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, with non-life threatening injuries.
 
Martinez, 24, of 9 Franklin Ave., Deer Park, left the scene, but was soon arrested by Third Precinct officers. He was charged with Assault First Degree. Martinez was arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
