Woman Walking Robbed and Punched in the Face in Hempstead

Hempstead, NY - January 9, 2017 - The Major Case Bureau is investigating a Robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Monday, January 09, 2017 at 2:15 pm.

According to Robbery Squad detectives, A 42 year old female was walking west on Columbia Street when she was approached by an unknown male that grabbed her pocketbook from her shoulder and then punched her in the face causing her to fall on the ground. The male subject fled on foot north on Morrell Street with the pocketbook that contained an undetermined amount of US currency and ID. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

The subject is described as being male, black, thin build, dark skin, 40 years old, moustache, goatee, and dark clothing.
