Frank Carey High School to the Legislative Chambers of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building where he honored many talented Carey athletes. County Executive Mangano joined Principal Val Angelillo and Athletic Director Matt McLees in commending the students for their varied achievements.

“It takes years of practice, dedication, and persistence to earn the Championship Title and that is exactly what all of these students have done. Their years of training have paid off which has made their parents, their coaches, their schools, and Nassau County proud,” said County Executive Mangano.

Honored with a Citation at the ceremony was Victoria Porcasi, a varsity basketball player, who was named an All County Player in 2012, 2013, and 2014, and just scored her 1,000th career point. Coach Anthony Turco and the Girls Varsity Softball Team were also honored for their 2014 Nassau County Championship Season. Coach Mike Stanley along with the Varsity Football Team were honored for their back to back winning seasons as the Class 2 Long Island Champions, and for being Ranked #1 by the New York Sports Writers Association (NYSWA).

After the athletic awards ceremony were concluded, the Carey High School Choir under the direction of Mr. Michael Moreno entertained the audience by singing Christmas Carols at the County’s Annual Tree Lighting.
