Teacher's Aide from Garden City Arrested For Harming a Child with Special Needs

Seaford, NY - Janury 8, 2016 - The Second Squad in conjunction with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office reports the arrest of a Garden City woman in Woodbury on Friday, January 08, 2016 at 8:40 am.

According to detectives, on May 1, 2015 a 39 year old mother noticed her 9 year old daughter who is a special needs child had arrived home from the Hagedorn Little Village School located at 750 Hicksville Road, Seaford with redness and swelling on her face. On May 2, 2015 the mother further observed her daughters face turned black and blue around her mouth and had   taken her to a physician for evaluation. On May 11, 2015 the mother was able to view a video of her daughter in her classroom showing the defendant Alexandra Chmil, 25, of Garden City, who is a teacher’s aide violently jerking the juveniles head and wiping her face abruptly with paper towels.

On January 8, 2016 the defendant Alexandra Chmil did surrender herself to Second Precinct Detectives in Woodbury.

Alexandra Chmil is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Disabled Person 1ST Degree. She was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, January 08, 2016.
