Senior Struck and Killed by Vehicle While Crossing Street in Lynbrook, Police Say
Lynbrook, NY - January 8, 2019 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, January 05, 2019 at 5:40 p.m. in Lynbrook.
According to detectives, while attempting to cross Atlantic Avenue from eastbound to westbound, a male pedestrian was struck by a 2007 Ford van, which was traveling southbound. The victim, identified as Donald Marasak, 71, of Lynbrook, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by staff physicians.
The operator of the vehicle, a 48 year-old male, remained at the scene. A brake test was administered which revealed the vehicle had adequate braking ability. The investigation is ongoing.
