Narcotics Investigation at Motel Leads to 2 Arrests

Bethpage, NY - January 6, 2016 - The Second Squad reports the arrests of two men for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, January 06, 2016 at 12:05 am in Bethpage.

According to detectives, officers from the Bureau of Special Operations were conducting an unrelated narcotics investigation at the Bethpage Motel located at 4107 Hempstead Turnpike, when they observed two males exchanging money in the parking lot.  Defendant Michael Oyola, 32, of Bronx was sitting inside a 1998 Toyota when defendant Robert Lubrano, 63, of Farmingdale approached the automobile and exchanged an undisclosed amount of US currency.  Defendant Oyola proceeded to drive out of the parking failing to signal. Officers conducted a traffic stop and observed the defendant trying to conceal a brown hand rolled cigar in his sweatshirt pocket.  The cigar and a clear bag of a substance believed to be marihuana was recovered.   Michael Oyola was placed under arrest without further incident. 

Defendant Lubrano was observed entering a motel room and after an investigation was placed under arrest without incident. A small white/yellowish rock like substance believed to be crack cocaine and a sliver colored metal pipe with what appeared to be crack cocaine residue was recovered at the scene. 

Defendant Lubrano (a Roman Catholic Priest – unassigned) is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th and 7th Degree.  He will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 06, 2016 at First District Court, Hempstead.  Defendant Oyola is being charged with Criminal Possession of Marihuana and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  He was released on a Nassau County Desk Appearance Ticket returnable to First District Court on January 25, 2016.
