Huntington Road Rage Incident Leads to Shots Fired; One Injured, Gunman Arrested, Police Say

The Suffolk County Police Department announced that a man is in custody in connection with a road rage incident that turned violent this past weekend.
 
Suffolk County Police arrested John Rech of Huntington, after he shot another man who was chasing him at approximately 5 a.m.  on Saturday, January 3, in Huntington. 
 
The victim, 21, of Fort Salonga, was transported to a hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 
 
Rech, 71, was charged with Assault 2nd Degree and was arraigned on January 4 at First District Court in Central Islip. 
 
Rech had a valid license for the firearm, which was recovered.
 
The investigation is continuing.
