Two Drivers Arrested Following Two-Vehicle Crash Over New Year's Holiday Weekend

Ronkonkoma, NY - January 3, 2016 - Suffolk County Police today arrested two men following a two-vehicle crash in Ronkonkoma.

Thomas Boyer was driving a 1997 Toyota southbound on Smithtown Avenue, ¼ mile south of Marconi Avenue, when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2001 Dodge at approximately 3 a.m.

The driver of the Dodge, Timothy Miller, 46, of Selden, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Boyer, 22, of Bohemia, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Alcohol. Both were admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries and will be arraigned at a later date.

Both vehicles were impounded and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
